What is NDVI?
NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) measures crop health based on light reflectance in two spectral bands: Red and Near-Infrared (NIR).
Formula: NDVI = (NIR - Red) / (NIR + Red)
Values range from -1 to +1:
- 0.6 – 1.0: Healthy vegetation
- 0.3 – 0.6: Moderate — needs monitoring
- 0.1 – 0.3: Stress — potential disease or water deficit
- Below 0.1: Bare soil or water
